Surveillance

Why a Surveillance System?
  • Deterrent – Just having the presence of surveillance cameras tells potential shoplifters and even employees that you are watching.
  • Employee Piece of Mind – May help improve employee safety.
  • Cost Savings – May help lower insurance costs and ensure employees are consistently productive.
  • Legal Protection – Recording incidents may help reduce fraudulent liability or employee claims.

Why Choose a High Definition Network System?

Is the latest technology on the market. An easy if not oversimplified comparison would the picture quality of a Standard Definition (SD) television broadcast versus a High Definition (HD) broadcast. Simply stated the image of a HD camera is of much higher quality. More pixels equals a better image.

The Cost of Surveillance?

Here are a few facts that may help to dispel the myths over the use of and cost effectiveness of HD cameras versus other camera types:

FACT

Most consumers expect a dramatic cost increase when considering a HD camera system compared to a SD digital system, or a conventional system. While the initial cost of a professional quality HD network camera maybe slightly higher, than a standard CCTV cameras. In a large majority of applications the total cost of installing an HD network system is substantially lower, sometimes up to 30%. In large coverage areas a 1.0 Mega Pixel (MP) camera can replace 4 standard cameras. A 3.1 MP camera can replace 10 standard cameras. This is a dramatic cut in labor and material expenses, and you end up with a higher quality image.

MYTH

The myth is that these cameras will eat all of your bandwidth slowing down your network, and devour your storage capacity on your server. Of course the HD images are larger than the conventional images resulting in more bandwidth and storage capacity, but that is on a one for one comparison. Remembering that a single 1.0 MP HD camera is the equivalent of 4 standard cameras in viewing coverage, the bandwidth and storage requirements of the single HD camera is actually less. In addition the cameras are programmed with the transmission details and all video processing is done at the camera before the data is passed on to the server.

In summary the best standard camera with the proper lens does not come close to the coverage range and image quality that can be compared to a HD camera.
